Bet one of those guys was McCarthy
Reds are idiots.
Are you interested in joining a 28 teams dynasty league? If so, PM me.
If the Reds nixed the deal than they didn't "almost" acquire him. Anyway, I'd have to imagine it was a pretty piss-poor offer because I would think that the Reds would jump on any fair offer that helped them move toward the future.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Ken Griffey Jr., his agent, Reds GM Dan O'Brien and White Sox officials all denied a report that any trade involving the center fielder was agreed to or killed by Reds ownership last week. Griffey said he hadn't even heard about the possibility of a trade, which he would have been able to reject as a 10-and-5 player. Griffey has given the Reds a list of ''three or four teams'' to which he would accept a trade and the White Sox are not on that list. It's pretty important to him that he get to spend spring training with his family in Florida, and the White Sox train in Arizona.

Florida, eh? The Yankees train in Florida
I don't see him and his huge contract going anywhere. The only real possibility actually is the Yankees because they A) have the money and could be willing to spend it and B) have a CF need.

I know at one point he said he'd NEVER play for the Yankees because of the Boss treated his dad. But things certainly change. I wonder if this did...
Reds should dump him for nothing, let alone if they get some decent prospects. Griffey is playing well this season, but they need to dump salary and an OF.
