Why did he only go 4 innings tonight?

The Cubs had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the fifth while they were trailing 3-0 when his spot in the order came up. Prior to the 5th inning the Cubs only managed 1 hit against Tejeda. I think they just saw the opportunity to have a big inning and lifted him for a pinch hitter. It is a little early in the game to pinch hit for your pitcher but having endured Dusty Baker's quirks as a long time Giants fan, who knows why he does what he does. I wouldn't sweat it.
