They give them points for a tie anyway so it's not like the game means nothing.

I enjoy watching the shoot-out, but I agree. The shootout is more of a All-Star type event, and I don't think it should be settling a hockey match. I mean, could you imagine for baseball instead of going into extra innings they had a HR derby.. :-°

As Jerry Seinfeld and the crew would think...Bizzaro World B-)

Yeah. I forgot to mention that it will be exciting to watch but the tradtionalist in me doesn't want proffesional games being dictated in that way. It's a team sport that is getting decided by individuals.

Lofunzo wrote:Mad.......You share the opinion of many but I just wanted to clarify a few things. Icing is not a "penalty" per se. It was basically implemented to stop tired players from sending the puck down so that fresh players can come on the ice. It was also implemented to stop teams taking the easy way out if the other team is putting on some good pressure. IMHO, it's kinda weak to just let 1 team shoot it down the other end every time they are in any sort of danger. That would be too much like soccer or chess and nothing would ever happen. As for ties, I don't like them but any time that you have top defensive systems in place as well as great goaltenders with increasing equipment sizes, ties happen. Think about basketball. If every team had Manute Bol standing in front of the hoop at all times, there might be some ties there as well. :-D

Makes more sense now ;-D , but that doesn't mean I agree a whistle should be blown because the puck went too far. ;-)

Mookie4ever wrote: Hey Mad, come over to the Hockey Cafe and try to explain the infield fly rule, when does pitchers get a save, when can a pitcher put his hand to his mouth, what is a balk etc.

Hockey players are pretty simple. Put puck in net. Wearing different colour = hit it. Whistle blows = stop. Thats about it. Most hockey players don't care about icing except that it usually leads to a whistle.

I agree about the ties, but that's now a thing of the past. You should get out to a few Stars games, beautiful arena and great fans there (tons of hot chicks wearing Modano jerseys).

I didn't try to explain the rule, just that I don't like that one :-b .

As to the chicks, if they are wearing Modano jerseys, how do I know if they are hot or not? Too baggy to tell. Lol. :-b

Lo, good point about the shootout. ;-D Makes more sense to just keep adding overtimes instead of a shootout. Personally, I'm just glad that there's no such thing as a tie anymore. :-)

Apparently there is a rumor with the Leafs and Red Wings. The deal would send Wade Belak and Ed Belfour to the Wings for Henrik Zetterberg. Then the Leafs would sign Cujo once again for half of what Belfour is making.

Personally I like this deal. Zetterberg is young and he's a nice goal scorer. He was awesome the last season with Detroit. I'm kinda worried about Cujo in net, because he just doesn't seem the same, and he basically ditched Toronto and i'm not sure if fans will accept him coming back.. :-°

Any thoughts??

That would be a steal for Toronto.
