drop C Billingsly?

Postby Members Only Jackets » Tue Aug 02, 2005 5:36 pm

Well it seems like Billingsly is having a tough time in the minors. Should I drop him for Alex gordan or another suggested pitcher that is flying under the radar? Or maybe Verlander?

both Verlander and Gordon would be nice adds, but do you have anyone else on your minor league team to consider dropping?

Despite having an up and down time in the minors, Billingsley is still often thought of by many as one of the top 5 pitching prospects in the minors. Personally, I'd take a hitting prospect of similar value over a pitcher anyday, although you do already appear to have 3 great hitting prospects.

All your guys seem to be pretty far away from the majors. I would either hold onto Billingsley or look for someone closer to the majors than Gordon... Ryan Zimmerman from the same draft class is already in AA and hitting well. Don't know how deep your minor league system is for your league, but I would think you would be able to find someone closer to the majors than Gordon.

i would drop billingsley for verlander.... even though he has not been great in the 2 starts in detroit this year,,,, the other starts in the minors have been awesome,,,,,,,, i am pretty sure we will be seeing him in the majors at some point next year for good..... and even though billingsley can turn it around,,, his struggles may very well set him back a bit at the beginning of next year.....

Personally I still like Billingsley more then Verlander, though right now Verlander looks like the safer bet. In any case wait to see how Verlander is before you do anything, he left his last start with I believe tightness in his shoulder.

i wouldn't even put Billingsley in my top 50 for pitchers.. he can't throw over the plate so his tools get him nowhere. it was obvious last year.. im surprised he can't at least get A hitters out which is really friggin easy compared to other levels..

Gordon is a good gamble but he needs to sign soon (their delaying his eta right now) ..

the 2 biggest p on the rise right now:

Jon Lester
Casey Janssen

Looks like Verlander is already taken...must have missed that one.

Are there any good young OF's on the rise?

Lastings Milledge is available but his power has gone...right?
