anyone know why i haven't seen him in about 4-5 games ? Saarlooss pitched the complete even though there was a save chance with men on base and Calero got the save a couple days prior to that. is he in the dog house, nursing the hammy still, or just getting a break ?

There's only been 3 games since his last save. 2 of them weren't save opps and the last one, Saarloos went for the CG.

Blanton was at 80 pitches through 7, he could have gone the full way, I'm surprised they didn't atleast let him go another inning.
It sure looks as though Anaheim will be leading the Wildcard soon enough.

The guy who's really on summer hiatus is Duchscherer ... one appearance in the last eight days. Maybe they're trying to save his arm for the stretch run, but it seems Calero and Witasick are beginning to share some of his work.
If you think of it from a non-fantasy perspective, it's probably a smart move by the A's to limit these guys' innings at this point in the season.
