Is there any real difference between a Fender Mexican Stratocaster and an American one other than the 1000 dollar difference and the name? I have been told that many people just buy the American for the name, and the difference in sound is not that large.

Likely if i get a new guitar this is the one i want.

Also which is a better make when looking for any kind of electric guitar. Fender, Gibson or Ibanez. These are the three big names right?

Also if you have a guitar take a picture and show it here.

This is what my guitar looks like right now a Fender in a white cream colour.

I've been playing guitar for 11+ years.

I have a mexican strat...

Heres the thing to consider.

Wood makes a big difference in tone...The Mexican strat I believe has plywood type wood I'm not sure how to explain it...its like pieces of wood put into one big block...

It does not sound as good as the american.

The thing to look at is the pickups...

Would I spend 1,000 more on a American Strat then a Mexican...no freakin way thats a lot of money...

By a Mexi Strat and put killer pickups on it.
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Growing up a music museum that my dad has assembled has taught me a few things about music. I bought a cheap bass and put killer pickups on it and it sounds better than any imported bass you could buy. The Mexi Strat is the way to go and if you aren't satisfied with the sound, just replace the pickups.

Well it has his autograph so it is easily worth a million dollars I'd say...the 199 price tag is wonderful..

btw that guitar is crap Esteban is a fraud who's name is probably Hank Jones from Idaho

Pickups are the way to go...make sure you either do it yourself or bring it to a good shop..I brough mine to some lame shop and they hooked it up all wrong
