Carlos Beltran or Johnny Damon

Postby crazybob60 » Thu Jun 12, 2003 9:55 pm

From this point forward, who do you think will have the better season, Carlos Beltran or Johnny Damon???
I have been offered the trade Beltran or Damon along with Josh Beckett for Tim Hudson. This intrigues me because I need OF help or do you think that I am just stupid for doing this trade??? Beckett I believe will come back pretty solid. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

So which one of the two would you choose??? And would you actually do that trade, remember the A's are always a second half team, it is very tempting but Hudson was one of my keepers.

I would take it. Beltran is a top tier OF. Definately him over Damon.

My pitching staff as it is right now: Hudson, Mussina, Pettitte, Loaiza, Buehrle, Tomko, Seo, Peavy, Myers
My OF as of right now: Vlad, Sheffield, Dye, Burrell, and then Klesko and Frankie Cat can also be inserted but are usually played elsewhere, so I think this trade would help immensely. We start 5 SP and 4 OF. It just worries me a little because of losing hudson and would Beckett be enough of a fill in there or do you think Beltran would more than compensate for that loss???? Sorry for all the second guessing but in dealing with trading one of my keepers I am always second guessing. Thanks again!!!!

If your comfortable in your pitching take the deal. Beckett will do decent, but he will not be good in my opinion. He has potential, and he has had potential in the past, but blisters, as well as hitters, seem to always get the best of him. Beltran is definetly an upgrade though. If you think Beckett will turn it around, that go ahead and pull the trigger.
