I'd love to see Murton in the #2 hole.

He's got really good plate discipline, he's maintained a .380 OBP throughout his entire minor and major league career, he will get pitches to hit between Pierre and Lee, and he has been absolutely tearing it up in Spring Training.

Murton could do very well at #2, but I think Hairston/Walker are much better #2s than they are #6s and Murton would be just as good a 6 as a 2.

What the hell? I just read the Opening Day preview and Murton is listed 7th in the batting order. 7th? That's how he gets rewarded for the spring he had? What a bunch of BS. :-t

Putting Murton's high OBP in the #2 isn't even a possibility in Dusty's mind. He's got plenty of "talented" veterans like Neifi and Hairston that "deserve" that spot more.

I think Murton is gonna be great but he doesn't deserve to be hitting in front of any of the guys ahead of him just yet. He is still a rookie and has to earn his spot in the order.

I hate to say it, considering how high I was on him when the season started, but I'm starting to sour a little on Murton. He's just not hitting righties, and 150-something AB's against them is a plenty big enough sample size to start to worry me.

With this season being over, I'd like to see him starting against every righty he can, just to see if he can figure them out with some more looks. If not, there needs to be a move made to get a platoon partner for LF for next year.
