If Soriano gets traded, the Rangers will almost certainly promote Kinsler, and good FBB players will be ready to drop on that. He's going to be a good one.

I know that Blalock has experience at second base and teixeira has some experience at third, so my guess would be that Nevin plays first, Blalock at second, Young at SS, and Tex at 3rd. It doesn't sound all that bad for the Rangers, and this could possibly be why they got Nevin. Wow, I would love for Blalock to have 2B eligibility!
Sorry, but that is a ridiculous thought. You don't move around elite all-star caliber players on a whim so that borderline Phil Nevin can be at first. Tex, Young, Blalock are all very good defensively and it's their team, not Nevin's. Nevin will be used as an occasional 1B when Tex needs a day off but look for him as the DH or trade bait somewhere else.

I can't see that deal happening. Twins can't afford Soriano and they need a better defensive 2B with range on that turf. I think the Twins will go get Orlando Hudson and Kevin Youkilis/ Bill Mueller instead. They are the kind of players that fit their budget and needs better than Soriano.

Boone is making $1.5 mil more than Soriano this year.

Right but they got Boone for nothing meaning he was a 1/2 year rental. Most of his salary was already paid. If the Twins are giving up the players rumored, they should be more inclined to keep him at least through next year meaning that Soriano will be getting a raise and they will be paying 10mil for a 2B that can hardly man the position effectively. Bad business for a small market team.
The deal I've heard talked about most in the papers around here is not moving Lohse but Mays, who makes $8 to Soriano's $7.5, and JC Romero. The Twins won't give up Baker, and especially not Liraino for two months of Soriano. Durbin could probably be had. Don't know if that's enough, but if the Rangers don't move Soriano, like the Twins, I doubt they'd offer Soriano arbitration to see his salary climb above $7.5 so he's a two month player for them as well.
Still think the Cubs have the best shot. They have the more ML ready (and more available) pitching prospects. And it's nice to trade an impact player like Soriano to the NL where he can't help your competition beat you out of the wild card.
