I thought he was too until they showed something on ESPN saying they dropped him over there. The Red Sox then signed him to a minor league contract and was probably called up when Nixon hit the DL.

He wasnt happy in Japan. The Soxs signed him a few weeks ago. He has been in the minors for prob 2-3 weeks at Triple A (Pawt)

News: Gabe Kapler rejoined the Boston Red Sox on Saturday after the outfielder completed a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Pawtucket. Analysis: Kapler was on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. He has some Fantasy value as a reserve outfielder in Boston's strong offense. At Pawtucket, Kapler went 14-for-22 (.636) in seven games with two homers and six RBI.
