Foppert isn't close to being the prospect he was pre-TJS. Velocity hasn't returned, command is absent. As for Torrealba, he's a dime a dozen backup C. Big deal.
I think this is a very nice move by Sabean, and yet another ridiculous maneuver by Bavasi. Talk about a guy who has a job only because of his family name...sheesh.
FWIW Winn is 25th among LF in VORP. 164 overall.

as a mariners fan i like the deal because torealba can be our catcher till clement is ready and there is still a chance we get the old foppert back. Winn had to go we dont have space for him and now can get another prospect in left.
Sabean is one of the worst GMs in baseball in fact i am going to say right now that i could do a better job than he could if i had his job
