Someone in my league said he would be generous and send me his Esteban Loaiza and Alex Gonzalez, in return he said he would be okay with Barry Zito and Sam Sosa. He is in first place in an 8 team league and I'm struggling. Would this swap help me a lot?

I hope you are kidding because they are trying to play you. First of all, if he says he is trying to help you, then he is covering something up. What he is covering up is that fact that he is trying to steal players from you.
That is a terrible trade for you. Counter back to him something ridiculous so they know that you aren't stupid.
