Manny will get 10-5 rights after this season, meaning he'll have the right to veto any trade he's in. Obviously there's no way we're going to replace his production, but Huff and Cameron would be a good start, and if the Mets were to eat a sizeable portion of Manny's contract this would probably be a great deal for the Sox in the long run.
I agree, I really don't see y he would want out of Boston because he has "Privacy Issues" and now he wants to go to New York.

i was thinking cantu at 3b, hanley at 2b, and upton at SS.... either way with 3 shortstops in the infield,,, hopefully our defense(once upton gets his head straight) will be solid
Dustin Pedroia
Brandon Moss
Jon Lester
Jon Papelbon
Anibal Sanchez
Craig Hansen
those are all top tier guys... then they have others floating around like Kelly Shoppach and Manny Declaremen... i'm sure TB is drooling over their pitchers ...
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I wouldn't be too excited over that list. I see almost no chance at all of the Sox giving up both Manny and 1 or more of their elite prospects for something like Huff and Cameron. People keep mentioning Hanley Ramirez but that's just wishful thinking. The Sox aren't stupid and while the D-Rays may very well take the Mets to the cleaners in terms of prospects it won't happen that way with the Sox.
