Yankees OF Kevin Thompson

Drafted in the 31st Rd as a SS, Thompson is now 25 and has been successfully converted to an OF and has played 4 straight games in CF at Columbus with good success. For Columbus and AA Trenton he is hitting .332 (131-394) with 35 Doubles, 5 Triples, 13HR, and has stolen 35 of 43 Bases. Can you say "Answer"?

Anyone got any information on this kid? I just found out about him in Today's Newsday. Numbers look pretty good and if he can field his position out there (And he looks like an athletic guy from his picture and since he was a SS he's likely the athletic type) he could be up pretty soon. Looks like he is a huge upgrade offensively over Bubba freakin' Crosby.

in 03 and 04 he really struggled in AA. Seems to have contact problems against quality pitching. The kid has excellent speed, swiping 63 bases in '03 and 38 in limited play in '04.

He won't hit well enough to bat leadoff. I would predict a sub-.250 avg, but +30 steals if he gets the at bats.

What's with this .330 BA all of a sudden? His numbers this year are pretty impressive...

The fact that he's 25 in AA, he's old for the league and it's not really that impressive to be a few years older than most your competition and tear up the league. He could be a solid player sure, but don't put too much into his statistics this year, especially since this is his 3rd year at AA.
