The genius who hired Mo, Cedeno, Alomar, Burnitz, and fired Valentine, etc. was fired himself. Good move I don't know why they didn't do this last year and kept Valentine.

BTW I heard that Mo was given that huge multi-year contract based on Steve watching him in BP for just two days during the winter. Anyone else heard that?

That couldn't have been the case, because Mo Vaughn actually signed the ridiculous contract with the Angels. The Mets were then dumb enough to trade for him and assume the contract.

None the less they picked up his contract after he was out for a year. I just heard that they picked him based on a couple of BP outings. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is that is pure stupidity. That's like picking up a fantasy player because they had a good day on opening day.

Steve Phillips is fianlly gone. ESPN actually started a Steve Phillips watch a couple of months ago, can't believe it took the Mets that long to figure out, who is responsable for that entire mess. They have all these great players, but their problem is, they can't play as a team. Just look at these names: Tom Glavine, Cliff Floyd, Roberto Alomar, Roger Cedeno, Jeromy Burnitz, Mike Piazza, Al Leiter and Armando Benitez..Those are eight (!) top players....
