My friend keeps talking about a "soon to be closer"

I heard him talking to one of my other friends last night telling him how theres someone on waivers/ free agency who will be a closer in a couple of days that hes gonna pick up. I still dont know who he is talking about so am I missing something here? Can you guys think of any soon to be closers?

Possibilities are:
Wickman being traded therefore Bob Howry would probably become the closer

Guardado being delt making room for JJ Putz most likely

Danys Baez will probably be gone and I have no idea would might replace him. My bet would probably be Borowoski, but Carter or Orvella could as well.

Mesa might be traded as well opening a space for Gonzalez, Torres, or Rick White

Billy Wagner could be gone from Philly as well making Urbina the closer there most likely.

It could be anyone with the trade dealine approaching on Sunday. I can think of at least 20 guys that could become closers if certain trade rumors happen.

A number of good relievers could be traded to contenders and given the chance to close there - OR- a number of closers could be traded from losing teams to winnings teams, thus freeing up a closer role that a set-up guy or rookie stud could take advantage of while he's given a trial-closer role.

Or someone could be coming back from injury to take over as closer for their respective team.

Or, some closer could just not be performing well and could be demoted soon.

It'd be impossible to guess the one guy your friend is thinking of given the possiblities coming up this weekend.

maybe borowski? rumors have baez going somewhere but thats not for certain. baez is still under contract at a reasonable rate for next year. if TB doesnt get a great offer they will just keep him and repeat the process next year.

lyon is a good guess. i forgot about him. i guess a few people dropped him but he should be back at some point this season and will be the closer.

Doesn't sound like Lyon, who's at least a couple weeks away — and may work in setup for a spell upon his return.
He may well be thinking of Rodney, though he's only a temporary plug-in while Farnsworth sits his suspension.
As phunkadelic said, it could be any of 20 guys; still, I'm betting Guardado, Wagner and even Mesa stay put. The best odds are probably on Baez moving and Borowski stepping in ... though Joe could always melt down and give way to Orvella.

I'd say Borowski. DBacks have no use for Baez and JoBo has looked great recently.

gosh... this is gonna bother me... maybe you guys are right he may be talking about Rodney because he was mad he missed out on adding Farnsworth in the first place. How long is Farnsworths suspension???
