Diamondbacks designated outfielder Jose Cruz Jr. for assignment.
Just a bad move. Cruz, who has a 786 OPS this season, was the best center fielder on Arizona's roster, no matter what Bob Melvin thought. Putting Shawn Green in center and Chad Tracy in right is going to hurt an already shaky outfield defense. Conor Jackson better be ready to hit immediately, because he'll be another downgrade defensively. Jackson is a better hitter than Carlos Quentin right now, but if the Diamondbacks felt they had to do something, bringing up Quentin probably would have been the better idea. Ah yes, hadn't thought about that to be honest. Not to hijack this thread or anything (I'll leave it go after you respond Trans) but what do you think they should with the spot. Put Millar in right and play Olerud or call up Petagine? or go out and get someone cheap like a Cruz?

way too many teams need an OF. I have seen Boston and NewYork mentioned allready (go figure) but STL needs one, San Diego needs one, and since he is a borderline 5 tool player, you can rest assured Bowden will stick his nose in there too.

They also caled up Conner Jackson, and he is worth keeping an eye on.

I like the move by the Diamondbacks. Cruz is an offensive liability and he's no longer a stud defender as his back issues have cost him at least a step.

Jackson has nothing left to prove at AAA. Time for him to play in the show.

i really like the move. im stoked for jackson, im glad cruz is outta there, although admitedly id rather have seen tererro get the playing time in cf, but you cant just bench tracy.

id like to get clayton on outta there. or at least shave his head. that would make me happy.

The diamondbacks are terrible and they play in the worst division I've ever seen in baseball, the Padres are gonna get handed a playoff spot when there are 5-6 teams better than them in the east and central. I'd start dumping players if I were them as well.
