What else would they do? Start May again?

They have no other options. We'll just have to see what happens.

You're right. They don't have many options. It'll be interesting to see what the Yanks do. Seems like Wang is out longterm, and Pavano just got pushed back again. And now with Brown hurt, again, and likely longterm, then that leaves just Mussina, RJ, and Aaron Small. Do they trade anyone for someone like Redman and Chacon? Or do they hope they get their health back?

What is up with Wright, by the way?

Apparently Wang is exercising with no pain in his should and will begin playing catch on Wednesday. No timetable is set that I know of.

Brown seems done.

Wright has been said to be a possible bullpen candidate to get him back earlier, but I've seen no time table.

Pavano getting another rehab start, but the reason for that is not related to a change of health. I expect him back next week, but he could get another rehab start.

Rotation looks like: Moose, RJ, Leiter, Small, Nomo(?)

Certainly not good, but for the Yankees' sake, Boston has their own pitching problems and Nixon is now on the DL. Assuming Clement misses a start, the Sox have what- Wells, Miller, Wakefield, Arroyo and Halama? At the very least, the NY rotation is in big trouble, as is the Boston pen. Should make for an interesting season :-o

from rotoworld.com

Carl Pavano (shoulder) allowed two runs -- one earned -- and two hits in five innings for the Rookie GCL Yankees today.
Pavano was throwing 91 mph consistently and 43 of his 54 pitches were strikes. It's uncertain what's next for him. He may make a start at a higher level before rejoining the Yankees. Jul. 27 - 4:19 pm et

also from rotoworld.com

ideo Nomo isn't a candidate to start for the Yankees on Saturday, manager Joe Torre said.
''He's got to get some work in, sharpen up,'' Torre said. ''It's like being on the DL.'' Rather than call someone up, it's possible that Torre will use Tanyon Sturtze or Alex Graman to start on Saturday. Jul. 27 - 8:03 pm et

It seems strange to me that they would sign him and not pitch him Saturday. Burning out Sturtze--one of their better relievers, but not a good starter--doesn't make sense.
I'm back. Sorta.

Do not boo Johnny.

I agree that I don't want Sturtze starting, but they really think Nomo's not ready. Sturtze was awful tonight and threw 34 pitches. He may not be available to start.

I'd like to see and the announcers suggested it tonight, that they pull up any kid from the minors and just ask him to pitch 5 innings and see what happens.

They can just pitch RJ on three days rest for the remainder of the season. ;-D
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
