I agree. I think he's quite underrated.

He'll never be a top player, but he'll be solid. And looking at his build, he looks like he could play 15 years without wearing down.

Carter,
Just curious. Why do you say Mathis is terrible. He was promoted to AAA after a mediocre year in AA.
He has bounced back nicely hitting .280 with 15 HR's.

As a Sox fan, it hurts to admit, but I'm not at all impressed by Shoppach. He is a .270 hitter in AAA with average power. I doubt he wil ever hit over .250 in the bigs and his defense in not spectacular. I have seen him play in Portlans (AA) and Pawtucket (AAA).

Lot of love for McCann. Any way he starts next year?

Why is everyone so down on Mathis? He had a nice 2nd half...

Would anyone change their rankings now?

yea, i'd change it.. sorry for saying he's terrible.. but he really did fall off the map, and then he was STILL highly overrated.. he bounced back for sure, but i wouldnt put him top 5

i'd slide Clement over Neil Walker, and maybe add a name or 2 to the 15.. throw in that HS kid that the O's drafed this year (forget his name) ,, and that japanese stud catcher thats supposed to sign to a major league team this year

and i'd defenitly put Saltalamachia at #1 now.. over McCann .. he can be a much better avg hitter with the same power as McCann.. braves might have to make a choice in a year or 2

The fact he's a switch-hitter adds to his value since he wouldn't require a possible platoon.

i got the chance to see salt play several games this year,,, and he has the makings of a future great behind the plate... he still has some work to do for sure, but he definitely should make a splash for atlanta in 2 years or so.... will be interesting with mccann already implanted in atlanta now, what they will do with the 2 catchers that probably 20 teams would want....
