A couple of good shellings backed up by the crummy TB BP for two 3 IP 7 ER performances and his numbers will be back at 4.3 ERA/1.35 WHIP and this will all be forgotten.

He is streaky good... like Kerry Wood but more shellings... he will get better as he gets older.

Exactly. His numbers are only a shy on the nice side because he's thrown a few good games. But one bad game, and it will come soon, will push him into poor numbers. His K/BB ratio is his only benefit, you won't see this guy keep his ERA under 4 or his WHIP under 1.30.

Why does Mark Hendrickson still have a job?
7ERA 1.75WHIP! 4/3 K/BB

Not to mention the fact that pushing 50% of the Rays games for the rest of the season are against the Yankees, O's or Red Sox. I like Fossum as a solid good-value guy going into next year, but I would be really hesitant to rely on him down the stretch this season.

I'm going to grab him for his start vs. KC this week and then I'm cutting ties. Ditto for Kazmir. Their upcoming starts look frightening.....

I think I'm starting him against KC, too. He ought to eat them for lunch.

Same here! No beefs about his going out for the eighth...he did have the shutout going and hadn't shown any fatigue to that point.
I don't know whether this is a fluke or of Fossum has finally figured things out...but he was a very highly regarded prospect just a couple years ago, so it's not crazy to think he's about to become a respectable starter. Unfortunately, he's on TB, so cementing him to your roster in any deep league is probably not a good idea just yet. But if you can spot him like this at home vs. suspect offensive teams, hey, why not?

Looks like that correction just came into play.
4 IP 9 ER 7 hits 4 walks
He has the Yanks and Texas next. That should end any talk about Mr. Fossum being any good.
