I've heard that he's out for the season....
Jul 27 According to Padres manager Bruce Bochy, Hernandez is leaning toward undergoing surgery on his ailing left wrist, but he will get a second opinion in Los Angeles on Wednesday before making a final decision. The catcher has been battling pain since spraining the wrist while diving into first base against the Minnesota Twins on June 15. He landed on the 15-day disabled list for nearly three weeks.
Advice: Hernandez might choose to continue to play through discomfort, but if he is forced to go under the knife, he will miss the rest of the season. Robert Fick and Phil Nevin are expected to see time behind the plate if Hernandez is put on the shelf. In 76 games this season, Hernandez is batting .273 with seven home runs and 38 RBI.
So there
is still a chance he might not do the surgery.
