Pads fans have any info on Ramon Hernandez

Postby Pacman » Tue Jul 26, 2005 10:29 am

Padres fans: Can you give me the inside scoop on Ramon? He's still my catcher, and I'm starting to really worry about how much I'll get out of him. Reading this today makes me worried about the rest of his season.. Thanks. (I realize this belongs in a diff. forum, but I was hoping to catch a Padres fan who may have read/heard some details of this issue).

The agent for Ramon Hernandez is adamant that his client needs wrist surgery and plans on getting him a second opinion.
There seems to be a lot of tension building between the Padres and the Hernandez camp, and he will seek a second opinion on his wrist from Norman Zemel, a hand specialist in Los Angeles. He had an MRI yesterday, performed by the Padres and will probably get another one done by Zemel. The real problem is that he's going to be a free agent and doesn't want to be ''damaged goods'' if he has the surgery, but the Padres don't seem to be in any hurry to re-sign him either. The way the guys on TV were talking tonight was that he was out for the year, but who knows. I assume you are asking for fantasy reasons. I think either way, it is in your best interest to get rid of him, because if his injury isn't as bad as his agent thinks, it is still an injury, and he has already said he hasn't swung at balls he should be because the pain is unbearable.

I hope we don't lose him, god we need him.

I did hear that we would know more on Friday.
