Clark is putting up the gaudy BA and HRs only because he is teeing off against mostly lefthanded pitchers. If he was facing the regular mix of righties, rest assured his numbers would drop. This is like Dellucci or most other guys that platoon--you don't really want them to play full time because their production is near worthless when the pitcher is throwing from the other side.

I think you need to check your stats. Clark is hitting .324 with 11HR's and an OPS over 1.000 against right handed pitchers. His OPS and HR totals against left handed pitchers are much lower.

Don't be fooled by his monster numbers, they're not what they seem.
All the same, if his numbers are bloated for this year then why not trade him to get an everyday starter that can hit the broad side of a barn??
Because he's not worth an everyday starter and every GM knows that. What Tony Clark is, is no secret to anyone... so if they try and move him, they won't get anything worth much. They are using him correctly and getting great production out of him... no trade value, can't start him everyday so they can't really do much else but what they are.
