I used to hate Jim Rome, but after watching personalities tip toe around topics with a complete fear of saying anything meaningful, I actually like him now. He seems to be the only guy on TV who willl say something and stick to it. Even if I don't agree with him, I respect the confidence he has.
classic clip for sure. i like rome when he gives his takes and does interviews -- he is a great interviewer and everett aside a lot of athletes like to talk to him and will be candid -- but when the clones come on and he starts with the clonespeak and reading emails, etc, i tune out
I find it very hard to believe that any true sports fan can actually say Rome is a good sports talk host. I'll admit, occasionally he does have a decent segment (very few and far between), but you could take his 3 hour show, edit it and take out the repetitive things he says over and over and over, and his show would be 1 hour in length. His shows on TV accentuate this point; he cannot elaborate on a topic; he simpy repeats himself.
I've never understood the fascination with him at all.

Rome is great. About the only talk radio i ever tried to hear. He's funny, not boring like Tony Kornho. Rome is wrong alot, like him calling Gagne crap before Gagne started closing. His takes of screw up in sports are simply great.
