That's if he's reasonably healthy, which is not a great bet. And he really hasn't been very effective at any point this season. Okay, but nothing special.

Well as a lifelong Whitesox fan, I have a lot of dread about Garland in the playoffs. He has been a big part of why the Sox have done so well this year, but he has no playoff experience and he really came out of pretty much nowhere this year. Most of us fans were ready to write him off before he started rocking this year.
I think we are too close to having a team that can win it all to risk going into the playoffs with our hopes hanging on Garland's neck. Get another top pitcher to take some pressure off Garland. Another bat would help too, but I actually think we need pitching more
