Eaton's been on my DL so long, I'm about to give up on hoping he'll come back and do well. Going to the bullpen would be a major bummer. Then again, he was pitching over his head, with a 9-2 record despite a 3.42 ERA AND 1.38 WHIP. Plus, the Padres were very hot in May and haven't been that good since, so Eaton wasn't likely to get the wins he got earlier in the year. Even if he came back and joined the rotation, I wouldn't be blinded by that 9-2 record.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
