Orioles sent Ponson to SD for salary purposes...giving them flexibility to trade for Burnett and Lowell .. My gut feeling is Nevin will probably get moved to another team by the time all is said and done.... my2cents

stay tuned?
it's a done deal.
You sure about that?
Buster Olney reports that Nevin has a limited no-trade clause and he hasn't approved the deal yet. The Orioles are on the list of teams he does not want to be traded to.
Doesn't look done to me.
oh geez, my bad. not sure how i missed that part of the article.

Good for Nevin owners as his value should go up quite a bit in a move to Camden Yards.
Ponson? WHy would anyone want Ponson? Padres are losing pretty big here unless a lot of cash is being cleared out.
Baltimore may as well take Nevin as Ponson is not worth squat anyway. His pitching can be replaced by any loser.

I'm not familiar w/ Ponson this year since I play NL only. Does Qualcom's dimensions help him enough to help an NL only team? It's cavernous out there. Ask Nevin and Giles.

It has to help him. His ERA and WHIP for the 10 games he had in SF at the end of 2003 would have been his career best. And he didn't even want to be there from what I could tell.
NL only he could help a team for sure.

Can't hurt. Neither can the pitching hitting and the NL West in general (lame division). Still, Ponson blows. Can't imagine it does enough good.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Phil Nevin hasn't yet waived his no-trade clause to go the Orioles in return for Sidney Ponson.
Apparently, this isn't as done as ESPNews made it sound originally. Nevin is in the starting lineup for the Padres today.

I saw this just a few minutes ago. Y would he not want to go to the O's though. Great Clubhouse and they look like they are going to be a force for the next few years. I'd go to the east coast if I were him......
