i went with undervalued, sleeper picks for the majority of my draft. the problem was that i seemed to forget why they were undervalued... what annoys me the most is that i like my teams in the leagues i'm struggling in, they're just sucking. what a crazy first half... all's i can say is that the second half better be the opposite. my guy's do good and the other's struggle ;-D

Every year is a firesale for my team! It's starting to become a reflex now. They always say "next year", but at this rate, I'll be lucky just to post a .500 season.

Last year, preseason trades monumentally screwed me over (I don't even want to think about how bad those trades were in hindsight). My top hitter (Soriano) and ace (Vazquez) picked a great season to go down the tubes, among a veritable cornucopia of lovely surprises for the season. My firesale began in early August. Dmitri Young, Milton Bradley, John Smoltz, Mike Hampton, Ugueth Urbina, Aubrey Huff, Jeff Weaver, Jim Thome, Rafael Furcal, and Odalis Perez were gone in a period of six days.

This year, my team has been even worse. Basically, the wheels flew off this baby in a hurry due to a whole lot of injuries, slumps, and general suckiness. I was done after the first month and I knew it. Anyone that I could get something decent for went. Unfortunately, I had fewer chips to bargain with this season, as most of the would-be chips were injured, but I've managed to pick up some nice pieces for next year, and as most perennially crappy teams say, the future is bright, though we all know how that turns out. :*)

Should've thrown it in the Vent Forum. :-b

You speak for all owners suffering the ill effects that 2005 have brought, though. I myself, can only really complain about inconsistent starting pitching.

Yea..probably should have put it there.

Bighort..It looks like the force is with you. I see you as a future MOD ;-)

I'll take that as a compliment (and I think I should, lol :-? ), and thank you. It's kicked into high gear as I come home from the chaos that is teaching my students and I just need a little order in my life. ;-)

Speaking of order and chaos...isn't the plural of Forum, Fora, as in Fantasy Baseball Cafe Fora?

This from my longest running money league, and I couldn't tell you the last time I didn't have a money finish. Last three years I have been 1 or 2. I too was supposed to dominate pitching this season ..

Remember, Its a NL Only 5x5 ...

* BAGWELL,J (out for the season)
* WILSON,C (finally got off the DL, only to go back on it the next day)
* BONDS,B (Still holding out hope for that three game series in October) ;-7
* CLOSSER,J (Piece Of Chit)
There is close to 100 HR's lost right here alone.

then ...
* BURNETT,A (On his way to the AL?)
* PRIOR,M (tried to knock a ball down with his pitching elbow)
* SCHMIDT,J (After all the hell he has caused to my WHIP, he is now rumored to be on the way to the AL, siyanora ***ker)
* WOOD,K (Oh how I lothe thee Kerry)
* FOPPERT,J (Felipe Alou swore up and down that he would start the season on the roster, and then sent him to AAA as the season opened)
* GAGNE,E (ARRGGHHH)

How the hell do you recover from that in a NL Only ... ? :~(

Oh yeah ... I also drafted "Pooka Shell" and we know what kind of BS he had in the first half. Of course I dropped him after he got sent down, and then he got traded and then somebody else picked him up and now he is "Just fricking fine" ..... :-t :-t :-t

$260 cap. NL only keeper.
$19...Bonds
$25....Wilky(sold early)
$21....Pierre(sold early)
$23...Javy Vazquez
$13...Nevin
$26...Berkman(I'm not so displeased w/ that since it's a keeper, but it didn't help early)
$29...Chipper
$6....Jerome Williams
$3...Jesse Foppert
$6...Woody williams

OUCH!!! The trade deadline approaches and like the Reds, I'm selling for next year.

In my money league I drafted Thome, Beltran, Randy, VMart, CPatt, Lowell, Ollie, and Mota. I also drafted Livan and traded him when he was 2-2 and watched him run off like 8 straight wins. It's been outstanding... But due to some good trades and WW pickups, I'm charging hard and hoping I have time to overcome the hole I dug myself...
