He's sort of an everyday utility player, if that makes any sense. He plays outfield and infield at every position other than 1B and C, depending on who else has a night off.

That said, the announcers on the Yankees game said that the Angels were pursuing Ken Griffey Jr. to DH. If that's the case, Figgins might be squeezed a little, thanks to the return of Adam Kennedy.

Reading this just depressed the hell out of me. I really hope nothing happens to Figgins's every day job. Stay in Cinci Griffey!

I thought Griffey's contract was too much for another team to consider? I hope (another Figgs owner...) :-o

My understanding of the situation all year has been that Figgins plays every day, just not in the same position from one day to the next. He basically fills the spot of whoever Scoscia wants to give a night off. But if push comes to shove and everybody gets healthy, Figgins will still play every day, there's no way they bench him in favour of guys like Kennedy, Cabrera, Izturis, or McPherson.

Yeah, Figgins won't be the one pushed out of the lineup. He's too good and too fast.
