Fuentes's Future

Postby Kingsac » Thu Jul 21, 2005 5:16 pm

If Brian Fuentes gets traded will he close for that team or be given a set-up, left handed specialst role?

If he stays in Col. assuming his stats stay the same will he be the opening day closer? Any young guns on the horizon that could threaten his position?

thanks

colorado has tsao, who was the closer originally. he could definitalyl threaten fuentes. if he gets traded, fuentes will fill whatever role is needed i suppose.

Since he's doing well pitching her in colorado we "SHOULD" keep him since all our pitchers blow...

but of course we'll trade him for 25 minor leaguers who all will play next year and then never again
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

If traded I believe he'll lose his closer role; if not he'll keep it in COL for the remainder of this year.

But I believe the Rockies have three RP prospects that could factor into future season's closer spots and could influence the early departure of Fuentes.

Tsao's out till next year and perhaps beyond. As for Fuentes, I don't see him being dealt but I sure could be wrong there.

Tsao had a serious arm injury and I don't see him having any major league future at all. I doubt Fuentes is going anywhere because he doesn't make much money and the Rockies don't need to move him because of it. I like him right where he is, his numbers have been tremendous.

The Rockies have said that other teams have inquired about Fuentes, but they have zero inteterest in trading him, so perhaps the question is academic ... unless Rockies "speak with forked tongue." :-?
