Could the Yankees go for Freel

Postby acsguitar » Thu Jul 21, 2005 4:02 pm

I was just thinking...This is a great guy to have on a team..anyway the Reds get rid of him? Can i call cashman or steinbrenner? Does anyone have their numbers?

I know its not gonna happen but wouldn't Freel be perfect for the Yanks?

Only problem is his goofy foot... But he'd be a great speed edge

Freel would be a great pickup for the Yankmes if the Reds are willing to part with him. He could play OF, spell Cano at 2B and be the emergency reserve for A-Rod at 3B.

What exactly would be in it for the Reds?

I've thought for a while that he would make a great utility guy for the Sox to have. Gets on base, good speed, can play 2B or CF. We could even use him for a year if Johnny Rockstar goes somewhere else in the offseason.

He'd be a great asset to the Yankees, but I can't imagine what they'd have to offer for him.

Can't say I know a ton about him, but a CF with speed that can hit .280 and run everything down in the huge Stadium OF is exactly what the team needs.

Any thoughts on his ability in CF and what he would cost?

No way the Reds get rid of Freel. They'll make moves to save money(Randa/Milton/Dunn/Griffey), but Freel isn't expensive and they love him.

Not sure but don't they sit him 3 times a week in favor of someone crappier?
