I was at the Cincy vs Cubs game on Monday. I was early and I went in to watch the Cubs BP. When I got in I went to the Left field bleachers. The Cubs had all of the Pitchers in the outfield catching pop flies. There where a few little kids that where standing with me waiting to get a ball that was hit out. Maddux caught a fly ball and a little kid asked him for it . Maddux turned around and threw the kid the ball. He then motioned for the kid to throw it back and he began playing catch with the little kid. Here I was standing in the bleachers at Great American Ball Park watching the greatest pitcher of the modern era take the time to play catch with a youngster in the stands. Maybe this is a regular thing in BP but I thought it was the coolest thing I've ever seen at a ball park. That little kid will remember that for the rest of his life.
Always nice to hear that some ballplayers are actually still nice at heart. Can't say I'm surprised that it was Greg Maddux in this case, he's always seemed like a class act to me.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
thats awesome, the coolest thing i saw was at a whaler game when kevin dineen threw his gloves to a kid in the stands...
the players would aslo give out their sticks at the end too, wed stand over the exit and ask for sticks, a decent amount would be given out, i got a few... sadly i burned them in the streeet playing street hockey
man,,,, if i had been that kid,,, you would not have been able to tell me anything for several years....... and i know who my favorite ball player of all time would have been as well....
but this story does not suprise me a bit about maddux... he has always seemed to be a class act
