Not sure why yet, but word has it that the medical staff is looking him over --- more when i hear it.

Yea it could be just because he was getting shelled, but if they are looking at him that can't be good.

rotoworld has a thing about him maybe being the closer as it would cause less lenghty stress on the shoulder

That doesn't make much sense... even if he did become the closer, it might actually become more work, because he might have to work consecutive days, even if it IS just one inning. That can be more stressful on a throwing arm than a 5-7 inning outing every 5 days.
