Still out of the lineup on Thurday July 21. I hate seeing a 10-1 win and haftner not involved.

I hope he can pick up where he left off when he comes back.

this is frustrating, i have him in one league that i have no bench hitters in because they;re all on the dl, and he's just wasting away in that 1B spot...

I'm lucky that I can play Chipper Jones and corner and Chris Shelton at first in Hafners stead but this is getting ridiculous.

Ridiculous? It's just a few games so far. Probably should be expected that he'll miss a handful games every year anyway. He missed games last year too as does many other big 1B type sluggers.

Ridiculous is if you traded him for Beckett and then find that Beckett still hasn't kicked the blister problem among other things. You'd think that spending time w/ Al Leiter this year would help, if nothing else, but oh well... And oh, on top of that, silly me for thinking Nick Johnson might finally leave his injury-prone history behind him so that he could replace Hafner in my lineup.

He either needs to go on the DL or play right now. I need to get Loretta out of my DL so it wouldn't be the worst thing if he landed on there for me.

I guess I think its ridiculuous because they say he's still dizzy. I posed the joking question the other day that he may have a glass jaw. What really bothers me is that his team is floundering now and is starting to become a seller and won't make a playoff push while he's out with dizziness. I guess I'm thinking it has to be something really wrong with him if its preventing him from getting in there to help the team out of the funk they are in, not just from a fantasy point of view.

Plus, I think I'm over reacting about it a bit because I have Manny and he got hit in the head twice and only missed a game each so far this year. I guess I just expected it to be less time than missing a weeks worth of games.

Well, I tell ya. Part of the reason why I traded Hafner (and Floyd) away was concern w/ his ability to stay in the lineup. Of course, Beckett (and NJ) has not helped me at all. Anyway, concussions are very iffy beasts. They're basically "mild" cases of brain damage, so who knows? Besides, you can't compare him to Manny this way as Manny's had more than his fair share of freak injuries to force him out for extended time in the past. I'm just surprised he's managed to avoid such these last couple years.

One more thing. As I never found out what Buehrle really threw at Hafner -- one report said curveball, another said fastball though he doesn't throw that hard -- I do wonder if the concussion didn't actually come from him landing on the ground instead of impact from the ball itself. Indeed, I do suspect it's from the fall, not the ball hitting him though I haven't seen any footages of the incident.
