Burnett looks like an Oriole

Postby cordscords » Mon Jul 18, 2005 10:33 pm

It looks like it's going to happen within the next 24 hours. Jorge Julio seems to be involved.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Pirates are involved?

http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/

If that doesn't work:

It would make more sense for Lowell to go to another team...but I really don't want him. He's washed up! He didn't even go on his normal Spring tear this year...who knows how bad he'd do with a crappy offensive team and his normal Fall swoon. :~(

JP Riccardi on the radio this morning said that Toronto had dropped out of the running. The Marlins were insisting that Lowell be included in the deal - Lowell has $18 M left on his deal and we're not about to take on that kind of salary.

Julio is a bum. There is no way he will unseat Jones, and I imagine that if something happens to Jones that Mota would be first in line for another shot.

The only possibility for Julio to close would be of the Marlins continue to flounder and flip him to someone else. Even the chances are remote contenders that need a closer would first be after Wagner, Guardado et al, who are actually competent closers.
