3B Chavez, Eric (3B)
SS Rodriguez, Alex (SS)
OF Preston Wilson (CF)
OF Wells, Vernon (CF)
OF Kearns, Austin (RF)
Util Pat Burrell (RF)
Bench Johnson, Nick (1B)
Bench Milton Bradley (CF)
Bench Eric Byrnes (CF, RF, LF)
Bench Frank Thomas (DH)
SP Halladay, Roy (SP)
SP Schmidt, Jason (SP)
SP Clement, Matt (SP)

P Pineiro, Joel (SP, RP)
P German, Franklyn (RP)
Bench Jeremy Affeldt (SP)
Bench Hernandez, Runelvys (SP)
Bench Penny, Brad (SP)
Bench Dontrelle Willis (SP)

do you think i still have a solid team? will gibbons get me by at 1b until johnson is back? i recently got thomas because he will be 1b eligible soon and though he may be a good plug in from time to time. is there anythink else i need to address? was that trade for soriano good for me? thanks for any help.

Your team should be ok when Chavez and Burrel begin to heat up. Chavez is warming up already. I agree with Randaman, you have to the two best players at their position for A-Rod and Soriano. Just hang in there and see how your squad performs the next couple of weeks. Then make your assessments then. :-B

he can afford a jay gibbons in that lineup. every team is going to have to put a questionable player somehwere or another. So he has jay gibbons. soraino and arod more than make up for a weak 1b, who in reality isn't that bad. his only need for gibbons is to not hurt him, he doesn;t need him to help.

[quote="jskidder"]I recently gave jason giambi, vidro, and blalock for soriano in a trade. as a result i am left with this roster:

I like your infield strength now. You can rotate in batters who get hot who will most often work in your OF or UTL. But get Pat Burrell on the bench for the time being, he is in bad shape. Big Hurt being a productive 1B has great potential. He is batting .400 this year when starting there and over .300 career. Poor Little Biggy says he can't hit very well when he's not starting in the field.
For your team to be solid I'd say you're relying on Beckett and Hernandez to return to early season form off injury (Hernandez is a ?) and that D. Willis hasn't just been on a lucky rookie streak. I'd try and turn Herenandez, Burrell, Byrnes, Willis and/or Bradley into a solid 1B and/or SP(by trade). This is of course, relative to how many teams are in your league.

In my opinion, trading for the best 2B Soriano is never a bad trade when you are getting him because he gives you runs hits rbi's avg not to mention steals and hr's. You didn't really give too much for him since you have chavez, and giambi and vidro have been having average numbers so far. Blalock has good average, but he plays for the rangers. I think you got the best of the deal of course, although it would hurt for you to use your bench players to land another good SP.
