Can you imagine the contrast in that club house before and then after this series? Before, the 'Stros had to be thinking they were making a move. They had their rotation set up for their best three pitchers to come into St. Louis rested with an offense that's starting to actually show signs of life. Over the next 72 hours, all three of those pitchers would fail to get a win and the "resurgent" offense would muster only 5 runs in total.
I think this series will do to the Astros what that late-season Cubs/Astros series did to the Cubs last year. Remember that series? The 4-gamer where the Cubs lost the last three and their tempers, throwing at every player they could see in the last few games. IMO, that was the series that did them in and vaulted the Astros into the WC.
I don't see the Astros recovering from this series - mentally - for the rest of the year.
