Postby Strasil42 » Sun Jul 17, 2005 11:06 pm

Jeter: 3-for-18
Cano: 8-for-18
Sheff: 8-for-16, 2 HR
A-Rod: 4-for-15, 3 HR
Matsui: 1-for-15
Posada: 3-for-10, HR
Giambi: 3-for-10, HR
Williams: 2-for-13

Only Jeter and matsui really struggled. Great series for the yankee hitters, especially sheff and arod.

Other than the botched double play tonight, I was very impressed with Cano's hitting also throughout. Him getting on base didn't really amount to too much (4 total runss), but he had a multi-hit game for every game this series except today (1 for 4).

Yeah, Cano was phenominal. I love this kid ;-D

Can I still call him a kid if he's older than me? :-?

There has to be a bit of a learning curve with Cano. He is going to make Rookie mistakes and a play like that could even be beneficial. In the pregame after his error they reported that Mariano gave cano a pep talk. Basically telling the kid that he would never call out a teammate for a bad play, to keep his head up, and that he has his back.

I don't know if Cano realizes Rivera's place in the game of baseball but it has to feel good to know that you can make a mistake and your teammates will pick you up. A win like that has to help the team's chemistry. ALso since error didn't cost the Yankees the game it can be viewed as a learning experience rather than a confidence buster.

Keep up the Good work Cano.
