There has to be a bit of a learning curve with Cano. He is going to make Rookie mistakes and a play like that could even be beneficial. In the pregame after his error they reported that Mariano gave cano a pep talk. Basically telling the kid that he would never call out a teammate for a bad play, to keep his head up, and that he has his back.
I don't know if Cano realizes Rivera's place in the game of baseball but it has to feel good to know that you can make a mistake and your teammates will pick you up. A win like that has to help the team's chemistry. ALso since error didn't cost the Yankees the game it can be viewed as a learning experience rather than a confidence buster.
Keep up the Good work Cano.
