Hawkins got the save today, a day after Walker blew it in convincing fashion...does anybody know if this is for good, or for a day's rest? Thanks all!!

Jeez, I hope not. I will have destroyed my bullpen in one fell swoop if that happens. I was debating on who to drop between Walker and Reitsma and decided on Reitsma after looking at their stats for the last month. So if Walker loses the job I'm out one closer and oh yeah I dropped Reitsma for Farnsworth who's sure to get suspended so there go two of my three closers....maybe

Finally The Rock has come back....to New York City!!

I'm no Walker fan but from the highlights I saw of the blown save he wasn't that bad.
It looked like one ball just got past the second basemen, a blown call on a third strike & didn't one ball hit the first base bag & take a weird hop?
I'm guessing he's still the guy.

Hawkins has proven time again that he can't close. Someone would have to be an idiot to even consider him as anything beyond an 8th inning guy.

Walker's still the closer, but they have to have a backup plan ready to go. And it very well might be Hawkins. Poor history of closing or not, their options are limited if Walker falters down the line.

Hawkins has had just over 100 SV Opps in his career and has blown about 30% of them -- that means just under 1/3 times he gets the ball in a SV situation loses the lead. That's atrocious. And that ratio hasn't been getting better as his career has progressed. Even a middling CL -- like Mesa -- blows maybe 1/6.
Not saying he won't close in SF -- I think he might. But it might not be pretty.
