the Yankees probably won't be able to afford Thomes salary

That'll be the day...

Actually the yankees lost a number of bidding wars on FA's this year and have avoided taking on salary in season so far, I really think they have hit their limit for how much money they are willing to lose every year on the salary side of things unless its an absolutely perfect situation, which Thome isn't.
