how long till schilling isnt permitted to close anymore

He didnt do a good job in the minors closing or coming out of the pen, and he obviously cant do it in the majors. Does boston go to Timlin, trade for someone (baez??), or just try to ride schilling?

He wasn't in a save situation today. I really don't think he'll be used as a closer. Atleast, I hope not.

I don't see why they don't go with Timlin. He has put up some pretty solid stuff this year and in the past.

His first outing back, in a tie game, against two of the best hitters in the game, and suddenly he "obviously" can't close? Get a grip
:-?

I'm not saying this was an encouraging outing, but let actually give him a shot.

yeah, I'm not ready to freak out about him yet. Giving up a homer to A-Rod is nothing that hasn't happened to other good pitchers.

That's a refreshing way to put it Poke. Nice job :-)

I'm still insanely mad right now though. Just the ugliest of all ending scenarios if you're a Sox fan.

Luckily tomorrow's a new day.

Will he be there closer? Or will Timlin get save opportunities also?

Listening to the YES broadcast, my impression is that he is the closer. Not a reliever, the closer. They kept showing him in the bullpen saying, there's the Red Sox new closer, Curt Schilling, and stuff like that.

I agree, i'm still not sure why they didn't keep Timlin in for another inning or for that matter why they went to him that early??

I have both Schilling and Timlin. If Schilling is closing then I'm dropping Timlin for Baez.
