Percival to DL... but how long?

Postby intense » Thu Jul 14, 2005 8:30 pm

from yahoo....

Jul 14 The Sports Network reports Detroit Tigers CL Troy Percival (forearm) was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to the partial tear of the right flexor pronator muscle mass in his forearm suffered earlier this season.

Jul 14 The Tigers placed Percival on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 10 with a partial tear of the right flexor pronator muscle mass, the Tigers' team site reports.
Recommendation: Percival missed time with the same injury earlier this season. Kyle Farnsworth will take over closing duties.

How long will be out for...? Farnsworth may be a nice pickup is he'll but out a long time, but if its only 3 weeks or so... not so great.

No word on how long he'll be out, or when he'll have a pen session. But any updates would be found here:

I'd say he'll be out for a month at the very least.

Last time it was a month. I dropped him for Farnsworth on 2 teams. I figured I would rather have Eaton and Bedard on the DL until I see a few outings by them.

i am no doctor but if you partially tear something that was a previous injury that doesnt seem too good. plus he is under contract for next year. i reckon the tigers wouldnt want to rush him back so that he will be fully healthy for next year. if farns is succesful i could see him lasting a decent chunk of the second half in the role.

I unloaded him last week...looking like an even better move than when I did it.
