Drop Belisle for Farnsworth?

I probably would providing I didn't have any other options. Belisle isn't lights out, and the Reds are worse than the Tigers.

If nothing else, Farnsworth has some pretty good ERA and WHIP numbers. So, even if he's in a non-save situation he shouldn't hurt you very often. ;-D

Plus, if Percival is done for the year, you have a nice locked in closer for the remainder of the season.

I still doubt Farnsworth's closer mentality but he is definitely worth a roster spot the way he's been pitching.

Maybe this is part of the reason Percival is having such a tough season. Considering he already went on the DL for this, it must've lingered. As a Tiger fan, I hope we hold him out as long as possible until this injury properly heals. It's a tough loss, but Percival hasn't been getting it done this year.

As far as I'm concerned Percival's career might as well be over. The guy has been an injury disaster the last few years and this elbow thing is so recurring I'd be shocked if he ever becomes a productive closer again. Even when he's pitched, can anyone really remember the last time they relied on Percy to get saves consistently without giving up the preverbial gopher ball?

2004 2nd half, he was one of the best closers in the game notching 18 SVs, with a 1.67 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.
2003 1st half he was one of the best closers in the game, racking up 20 SVs with a 2.48 ERA and 0.83 WHIP.
In 2002, he was one of baseball's best closers all year period. With a 1.92 ERA and 1.12 ERA he amassed 40 SVs.
So he clearly is still an effective closer since as soon as just last season if you catch him at the right time. He's frustrating at times, but you can ride him when he's on.
