Al Leiter -- DFA

Postby BronXBombers51 » Thu Jul 14, 2005 4:40 pm

Just heard it on WFAN.

He's old and washed up for the most part but I can't say that he wouldn't fit right in with the Yankees. With Wang down, and the Yankees with only 2 starters (RJ and Moose) Leiter could make his return to the Yankees.

Think any other teams could be interested?

The Marlins are strongly considering designating Al Leiter for assignment before the end of the week.
Leiter is tentatively scheduled to start Monday, but Jason Vargas could get the nod instead. The Marlins might rather cut ties with Leiter than send him back to the pen. Jul. 14 - 11:22 am et

This is the only thing I could find so far. That was earlier this morning. WFAN is reporting it as fact now.

Yeah, he really would fit in with your team's rotation quite well. ;-7

Very disappointing. I really thought this was a great signing by the Fins to provide veteran leadership on a young pitching staff.

I also like him as a commentator.

Maybe he'll just retire and join the Mets broadcasting team.
