I'd go w/ Hermida for a few reasons. He will be a better all around guy in fantasy cause he can steal bases & I question whether Barton will hit for enough power to make him a top 1B option.
barton is having a good year so far,,,, but i would still take hermida over him due to the steals that hermida will provide... plus with the depth at 1b, that lowers barton a bit imo as well.....
i like Barton .. he's a hit machine, amazing plate discipline and run producer. he'll probly be a #3 or 4 hitter wherever he plays. and more likely a superstar. he'll probly develop more power then Hermida. he can do everything much better except run and play the field. so really, its only one fantasy stat that Hermida beats him in.. and Barton is doing this at a younger age (19 yo, ripping up AA)
I would take Barton if you can keep him for awhile. I think he will take longer to make an impact, but will make a bigger impact once he finally arrives.
He will have the chance to win a job next year and he's a 20-20 type player who does a good job of controlling the strike zone. Based on speed and 2006 chances, I go with Hermida.

I'd go Barton. There's already talk of him arriving in Oakland by September 2006 and he should become a low end projection .320 hitter very quickly with adequate power.
Hermida. He's closer to MLB ready (although not by a ton), has great plate discipline, and very good all-around fantasy potential. I don't think you can go wrong with either player, though.
