Scott Baker is a very, very polished young pitcher that could post a 4.00 ERA down the stretch for the Twins, picking up wins on a good club. He's ready for the show now, which has led to rumors that the Twins will move either Lohse or Mays for offense, and Baker will take the open spot in the rotation. He was the Twins' second round pick out of Oaklahoma State in 2003. Shot through three levels of the Twins' farm system last season and spent all of this year in Triple-A posting the following line:

15 GS, 3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 87.2 IP, 75 K, 23 BB, 81 H

He doesn't have ace upside, but will be a nice No. 2-3 starter.

Bingo. I think Baker will do very well when he gets called up. He's been great everywhere he pitched.

Toronto just called up McGowan today, and he started agaisnt the Texas Rangers.

He pitched 5 innings, 1 er, 2 hits, 3 walks and 6 ks. Pretty good line if you ask me, but either Downs or McGowan will be sent down upon Doc's return this week, so watch the Jays closely.
