Future call-ups

Postby Danimal » Wed Jul 13, 2005 1:47 pm

I'm keeping an eye open for the next big call-ups. Both pitchers and hitters. Will there be many more Rickie Weeks- type players to look for this summer?
Any insights?

There will be many. Check the Minor League forum for names but if you haven't heard of Delmon Young before, expect him up shortly. He's going to make Rickie Weeks look like Tony Womack without the speed.

I honestly doubt that Young is brought up before September 1st so that his arbitration clock is not started on him since this season is a wash for the Rays anyway. BEsides that leaves me a monthand a half to get the top waiver spot in my league

Snelling will hit if the Mariners ever bring him up and he can actually stay healthy. Also watch for Justin Huber of KC if Sweeney is traded, and SP Felix Hernandez of Seattle.

I hope that Jose Cappelan and Ian Stewart finally get called up, I've been waiting for those guys.

I hope that the Bucs leave Brian Bullington in the minors and don't mess with him.

Not quite on the level of the big name prospects but in larger leagues and those which use MI spots Anderson Hernandez may be worth keeping an eye on. Considering the Mets current 2B woes there is a lot of speculation that he may be called up after the break.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
