Watching the Nats improbable success, I think the new owners will probably have to keep Bowden on. Which is crazy, since the guy is a complete buffoon.
Now that Cam Bonifay and Dan Duquette are out of the GMs office, is Bowden the undisputed worst? Or am I missing someone?
Bowden is definitely in the bottom tier, but I don't think he's the worst. He shelled out a lot of terrible contracts this year and the Nationals have been lucky enough to win every close game so it almost makes it look like he's doing a good job.
Some of that is the Boss, though. He could've had Vlad, but he signed Sheff instead.
Chuck LaMar's pretty bad, but he isn't helped by our cheapness. But signing Alex Gonzalez for 3B is inexcusable. And Lou has to get a clue...shouldn't have been our manager in the first place. We should've gotten a developmental manager.

I agree on Bowden. He did nothing to contribute to the team's success this seasons, in fact a moderately compentent GM would have actually resulted in a better team. Imagine a decent SS like Vizquel instead of Guzman. I really can't give him any credit for Loaiza either; pitching anywhere but RFK, I don't think Loaiza would have worked out quite so well.
But I agree that the real booby prize has to go to whoever is running the Reds or DBacks--both names are escaping me right now for some reason.
Cashman has been terrible too, but you can never blame him entirely since Steinbrenner more or less compels him into hasty and risky moves.
meh. just because steinbrenner meddles doesn't mean cashman should get off the hook. he's the GM. regardless, the yankees don't have the best front office management, no matter who's actually making the calls.
