I've heard of scenarios where this guy could be good enough to make the team by September IF he signs soon. But personally, I don't bank on any players' ETAs before they have some minor league experience.
The thing with Boston is that Schilling could flourish as closer and stay there into next season (not likely IMO), Foulke could come back with healthy knees and be successful again, or a closer could be acquired via trade/free agency, so I don't think there is a high probability that Boston will rely on the youngster as a closer next year.
