I agree, if the game is still on at 11 it's getting put on during Rescue Me commercials unless Mo is in closing the game against Pujols or D Lee or something like that.
The show is about a Brooklyn Fire Dept. in the aftermath of 9-11 where they lost a lot of their guys. Denis Leary is the star/creator/writer of the show and he plays a broken down drunk with all kinds of family, mental, and emotional issues after the death of several friends and his cousin during 9-11.
Last season he alienated his entire department for banging the widow of his best friend and cousin and eventually knocking her up, becoming a full blown alcoholic, and abandoning one of the guys in a fire where the guy almost died. He got thrown out of the department and thrown out of the house of his ex-wife who left for Ohio with his kids.
He ended up in some department with a bunch of geeks in Staten Island where there was no action and he was bored out of his mind. He got sober, started going to meetings, chased down his wife and kids (and subsequently lost them again), and started to patch things up with the widow of his cousin who was carrying his kid, and wiggled his way back into the department in Brooklyn.
That's the short version of the main storyline but there are several others that are absolutely outrageous and equally hilarious and compelling. The characters in this show are off the charts and it's definitely worth watching. I hate most TV shows but this is a must see. If you can get the first season on DVD do it. Rent it if you can, you won't be able to turn it off.
Here's the show's Website.
